“When people feel cared for, they will care for those around them. This is not a ‘focus on the customer’. This is a focus on people.” – Simon Sinek
One thing we know for sure is that acknowledging people is one of the core fundamentals of building great company culture. It demonstrates care, empathy and gratitude. It promotes psychological safety.
In turn, those who feel cared for, will care for your customers and clients.
As Simon Sinek says, “When people feel cared for, they will care for those around them. This is not a ‘focus on the customer’. This is a focus on people.”
Peer to peer acknowledgement is even more powerful, building a solid foundation of trust on which a high performing team can be built.

Cassandra Gibbens from Service NSW shared at our #CULTURE17 NENW Summit how they make it easy to say “thank you” and acknowledge each other with pre-printed post it notes readily available.
Why is it so powerful? It makes the giver more attuned to – and actively on the look out for – the values and ideal behaviours, reinforces them to the receiver and the wider team, who can see the brightly coloured post it notes stuck around their colleague’s screen. It’s a simple and effective strategy.
How do you call out people doing the right thing in your organisation?
